A Tribute to the Junior NEEVer

Lost in the rooms adjoining the Neev room can we be found. Experiencing the inanimate thrill of being a call center agent.

The junior NEEVer is he, who sat back in the assembly hall and watched the senior team present the NEEV committee to him. He sat back in awe as he suddenly realized which committee he wants to join.

The junior NEEVer is he, who was locked in a room for what seemed like eternity as he endured entire freshman year of senior related, shall we say, “interactions”, in a few minutes.

The junior NEEVer is he who fought with his own batchmates in GDs and tasks as he strived to be the one selected.

The junior NEEVer is he who endured review after review of his performance and constantly felt guilty about not living up to a standard he felt was necessary in this exclusive cult.

The junior NEEVer is he who wants to carve out a spot for himself among this group of insane, fun loving, never say die attitude filled bulls, who continue to set a standard and precedent every single year.

The junior NEEVer is he who eats chingles. Ok that is just this year’s junior NEEVers.

This year’s Junior NEEVers are all this and much more.

Three months into our anointment into this cult called NEEV and it’s not hard to see the difference in ourselves. The best part is, even greater things now lay ahead. We have taken stress tests, cold calling rejections, and monotonous frustrations and are still here ready to rage.

This year, the junior team is here… to Surge. 

The start of something big

Every institution has a spirit, an essence. Something that embodies all the values cherished by it and something that cannot be seen or heard, but has to be experienced. As far as SCMHRD is concerned, its spirit is undoubtedly represented by its annual fest NEEV.

Every year thousands of students and corporate from across the country come to witness this grand 3-day spectacle, that has fast become one of the most talked about b-school events of the country. However, in a change of gargantuan proportions, this year the event will transcend all boundaries by going global, with participants coming in from various corners of the world, making us one of the few colleges in the country to do so.

Not only are we well on our way to making it a bigger event in terms of colleges from other countries being involved, we are also trying to increase the magnitude of all the sub-events across the three days including the well renowned competition Augustus, the Corporate Playoffs as well as the eagerly anticipated Celebrity Night.

NEEV has been and will always be the pride of our college. It is also an event that has always been about us, the students. So cherish it, experience it, LIVE IT!!!

Not for the Faint Hearted!

It’s all shrouded in mystery. No one knows what it is. Yet, the quest for this unknown is life’s adventure. It’s about the journey, not as much about the end, they all say.  Everything we do in life is about reaching this destination. Neev’s Fourth quadrant is one other bold attempt at discovering the unknown. Only this time, the unknown variable is business.

It’s a raging war out there. Any slightest apprehension or miscalculation and you are dead. The world never remembers the weak and the feeble. Augustus, the country’s largest hunt for the best Business Manager is all about eliminating the weak and the feeble to reveal to us, the smartest and the greatest student manager.  The winner takes all the glory and Rs. 2 Lakhs and the rest dissolve in the sands of time. No one cares about you for just trying. It’s cliché.

Why so serious? You might ask. The Fourth Quadrant will help you discover your fun side too. Get ready to indulge in 3 days of non-stop fun. It’s not for the faint hearted, with all its rock climbing and real life simulated gun fights. If you can’t handle it, go get a diaper.

Sweet November

“Sweet November” has arrived and it’s that period of the year when the transition takes place from the year round rigour to that of enjoyment and merriment. For some it is the relief from the sudden downpour of FCQ’s,assignments and late-nights experiences of 1st year MBA, while for some it is the sense of ecstasy and euphoria moving towards The Fourth Quadrant.

Talking about the “Fourth Quadrant”, if November is sweet then December would be full of tadka. NEEV ’11 is round the corner and the campus is all fervent with energy and vigour as the teaser mails have started floating in, for the stars to descent on SIC campus in the likes of rap queen Hard Kaur andmaster drummer Sivamani.

The stage is set and the crown seeks the mighty head on which it will be bestowed - “AUGUSTUS” (the hunt for India’s best student manager) which was unfurled this week. AUGUSTUS ’10 makes me remember what Shakespeare once wrote,“Uneasy lies the head that wears the crown”. The candidates were intrigued, challenged, puzzled, intimidated and unsettled to test their mettle in unnerving conditions only to give chance to The One to emerge victorious.

Coming one month would unfold events which would develop the NEEV ’11 mania further and would conclude with the motto of creation … “WHERE I THINK, UNHINDERED, WHERE I ACT, UNSHACKLED”!!!
